Senior Planner and Project Manager
Geoff Appel is a Certified Planner with 16 years of planning and project management experience, with extensive experience in military master planning. He has supported nearly 40 Real Property Vision and Area Development Plans (ADPs) for the U.S. Army at installations worldwide as a planner, project manager, and charrette facilitator in both leading and supporting roles. His master planning experience includes U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force Installation Development Plans (IDPs) and Regional Integration Plans (RIPs), and he served as the project manager for the 2015 Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Joint Land Use Study (JLUS). Geoff's planning experience also includes extensive local community and comprehensive planning; land use, environmental, shoreline, and in-water permitting at the local, state, and federal levels; residential, commercial, and industrial site planning; port master planning; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs); and hazard mitigation and disaster recovery planning.
Geoff served on the Board of the Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association from 2013 to 2018. He was project manager of the City of Lacey Woodland District Strategic Plan, which won the 2015 Washington State Governor’s Smart Communities Award. Geoff holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Portland State University.
