Explosives Safety Operations Manager
Chris Shoemaker has more than two decades of experience leading structural and blast-protection engineering for high-security facilities serving both commercial and federal customers. He has a strong record of guiding multidisciplinary teams, overseeing complex design and construction efforts, and advising senior leadership on risk assessments, protective design standards, and engineering strategy. Chris has served in key technical and leadership roles within the U.S. Department of State, directing engineering divisions, managing major research initiatives, and supporting mission-critical projects in demanding, security-sensitive environments. He has contributed to several significant blast R&D efforts, helped develop new design standards — including the Department of State International Building Code Supplement, mass timber criteria, shortened setback strategies, and response limits for curtain walls — and presented on physical security topics at multiple international forums.
