Abbey Ness | AICP, CCF

Abbey Ness is an AICP-certified urban planner with a broad background in federal land use and environmental planning. Her previous project experience includes master plans, area development plans, encroachment studies, AICUZ studies, environmental impact statements, and community partnership plans spanning all branches of the U.S. Military. She has extensive experience in facilitation, public speaking, spatial analysis, and data visualization. Abbey’s planning experience also includes community development and capacity building in environmental justice communities and regional asset-based development planning.

Abbey served as a board member of the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) for four years. She is currently serving as Vice Chair of the APA Federal Planning Division. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy from Duke University and a Master of Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia, where she completed an award-winning thesis on the relationship between the urban design of military communities and the mental health of service members.
